Introspection

This article would seem to be an indictment of what I'm doing with this blog: First draft essays.

"The second worst thing you can do on the internet is waste someone's time." Noble idea, but I suspect for most folks, that's the very reason they're on the internet.

  1. Pretty much.

But the internet is surely the best place for first draft essays, as it's a very efficient way to get feedback.

  2. I suppose that's true. But in an ideal world I would have the time to craft the content with the care to high quality before it hit the interwebs.

  3. Sure. But to tie it in to one of the other threads, I think that can become another roadblock to just getting stuff out into the world. This might be more my own hangup, but I do have a thing about wanting any of my own creative products to be "perfect" before letting them see the light of day. Meanwhile people around me are just getting the stuff out there and getting people's attention and creating a universe around them that lets them keep on moving forward and putting out more stuff.

And I sit around thinking, "Hm, this isn't quite right yet" and letting it languish.

  4. Well, this blog is not fully out there. I haven't even posted it to Facebook. I sent an email to a half-dozen or so people that I thought might be interested and that's all. So I'm not sure my stuff is seeing the light of day either. I just invited a handful of folks into my cave.

  5. Speaking of that, I think I may have an idea for some guest-blogs. It's a series I started on my own blog, which I was calling "The Perils of Sketch Comedy." I'll try to work something up soon, although I have some deadline-oriented stuff I have to get through first.

  6. That'd be great. I'd love to see it. This blog is going nowhere. And we don't have that much content.
